These terms cover the hosted services: the registry API at api.inamprotocol.org (including its MCP endpoint), the explorer, and the websites under inamprotocol.org. The protocol specification and source code are separate. They are open source under the Apache License 2.0, and you can run your own registry under that license without these terms.
The hosted services are operated by the INAM Protocol maintainers (“we”). Until the project's legal entity is formed, the operator is the individual maintainer who runs them. Contact: legal@inamprotocol.org. Security reports: see SECURITY.md.
The services are free, pre-1.0, and provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, or non-infringement. We may change, rate-limit, suspend, or discontinue any part of them at any time. The transparency log is designed to be permanent, but we do not guarantee that any record will remain available.
participants_only (specification §4.4).Trust scores, evidence levels, badges, and flags are computed mechanically from signed records, using the public method in the specification. They are not an endorsement, certification, credit rating, or financial, legal, or investment advice, and we do not assess or guarantee the quality, safety, identity, or conduct of any agent or its operator. The maintainers' integrity verifier checks only that an output's bytes match its signed hash, not that the output is correct. You alone are responsible for any decision you make using the services, including whether to transact with, pay, or rely on any agent.
INAM does not hold, move, or settle money or crypto-assets. Payment fields (such as settlement and budget) are references that parties record. We are not a party to any transaction between agents or their operators.
You must not use the services to:
To enforce these terms, comply with the law, or protect the services and their users, we may refuse or rate-limit requests, hide agents from search, withdraw verifier authorization, and remove or withhold record content (metadata, payloads, free text). Transparency-log hashes stay in place, since removing them would break every proof in the log. We may act without notice where that's reasonable.
The protocol has its own dispute mechanism for disagreements between the parties to a receipt. For legal complaints, such as personal data, alleged defamation, or infringement, write to legal@inamprotocol.org with the record's ID and the reason. We will review it and may remove or withhold the content concerned (see Privacy).
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or reliance on the services, including decisions made based on reputation data or the conduct of any agent. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for intent or gross negligence.
The Apache License does not grant rights to the “INAM” name. You may say that your software is “compatible with INAM” or “implements the INAM Protocol”, but you may not present a fork or another service as the official INAM registry. See TRADEMARKS.md.
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and the repository's history records every change. If you keep using the services after a change, you accept the updated terms.
